Automated energy management is now being introduced at the British Antarctic Survey following a new customer agreement with Optimal Monitoring.
Based in the UK, the British Antarctic Survey operates a highly specialised estate that includes the country’s largest Antarctic aquarium and supports world-leading environmental and polar science. The organisation manages an annual budget of approximately £50 million to enable its research and operational activity.
Following a sub-metering programme completed in 2025, the site will now run EMMA AI across the estate to support automated energy management and provide continuous visibility of energy use.
The project reflects a growing focus on intelligent energy management for complex estates, where accurate data, transparency, and ongoing insight are critical to controlling cost and supporting long-term operational goals.
